AREQUIPA - COLCA

DAY 1: Arrival in the city of Arequipa

You will be met at the AQP airport and transferred to La Casa de Tintin . After lunch you will have a guided tour of the city of Arequipa: visit of the Santa Catalina Monastery, the Main Square, the Compañia Church with its cloisters and dome, the religious complex of San Francisco, the Tristan del Pozo old house, the traditional neighborhoods of San Lazaro and Yanahuara (Church and great viewpoint of the city. Overnight at La Casa de Tintin.

DAY 2: Trip to Colca

After breakfast your guide will take you to Chivay. On the way you will visit Pampa Cañahuas, the most important reservation of Vicuñas in Arequipa. Lunch in Chivay. In the afternoon you will visit the town located on the left bank of the Colca river, Coporaque. From there, you will stroll for approximately 2 hours and admire nature and the beautiful magnificent landscapes until you reach a pre-inca cemetery. Before dinner you can enjoy the hot medicinal springs of La Calera. Overnight at the lodge in Chivay

DA Y 3: Colca Canyon tour and back to Arequipa

After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Colca Canyon. You will visit the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, from which you should be able to observe the flight of the condors that nest on the cliffs and fly out in the morning to take advantage of the upward currents of hot air. The sight of these huge birds flying sometimes just a few dozen feet from you is the highpoint of the tour. Finally, you will visit the old towns of Pinchollo, Yanque & Maca, and the viewpoints of Antahuilque and Choquetico. After lunch you will go back to Arequipa city. Overnight at La Casa de Tintin.

SALINAS LAGOON

Full-day private tour in the Arequipa Region, up to an altitude of 4100m above sea level called Salinas' Lagoon. This name is due to the accumulation of Borax in its water. In this tour, you can observe flamingos, and take part in extracting borax. You will also see a stagnation of water in natural form dominated by the Ubinas volcano and the snow-capped Pichu Pichu.

After breakfast your guide will pick you up. On the way to visit this lagoon, you will pass by the colonial town of Chiguata, enjoying one of the best views of the Misti and Pichu Pichu volcanoes. After a tour in a 4x4 car, you will arrive at the lagoon, where you will be able to watch the different kinds of birds, which inhabit this area: Andean ducks, ibis, flamingos, etc. Of course you will also see llamas, alpacas and some of the rural communities of the elevated areas.
